Supported Housing

Following some recent enquiries in relation to requests from the Housing Benefit department requesting information around the care support and supervision that you receive here, the following information may be helpful.

 

What is supported Accommodation?

Accommodation where residents require and are provided with care, support and or supervision to help them live as independently as possible within the community.

 

Who is supported housing for?

Supported housing houses various vulnerable groups but not limited to:

  • Older people with care or support needs

  • People, and their children, fleeing domestic abuse.

  • People with experience of the criminal justice system (including prison leavers)

  • Young people with a support need (such as care leavers or young parents)

  • Individuals and families at risk of or have experienced homelessness.

  • People recovered from dug or alcohol dependencies.

  • Individuals with learning, development or physical impairments and those with a mental health condition.

 

Housing Benefit Reviews

Housing Benefit are carrying out reviews on supported housing across the city.

A request will be received for the details of the care and support and supervision given to each individual . It will include daily wellbeing calls and follow up, settling in reviews, resident support reviews, support with finances, such as HB claims and documentation, volunteering, engaging in activities, mental health wellbeing support.

Each case will be decided upon its own merits and demonstratable evidence of care, support and supervision received.
