Our Criteria
Lench’s Trust provides sheltered accommodation and promotes independent living to older people in Birmingham from the age 55 and up. To join our waiting list and be eligible for Lench’s Trust accommodation, applicants will have to meet our criteria.
What do we look for…
Are you interested in joining the our community but unsure of how to get onto our waiting list?
-
Being an almshouse charity that supports older people it is required that applicants have to be 55 years or older.
-
Unfortunately only the applicant that meets the minimum age requirement will be allowed onto the waiting list.
-
Homeowners are not currently eligible for housing with Lench’s Trust - please contact Birmingham City Council to discuss your housing needs.
-
You are required to have a financial need to apply for housing within Lench’s Trust. Anyone with more that £16000 in savings will not qualify for Housing or Council Tax Benefits.
Each application is assessed on an individual basis.
-
No you do not need to be on housing benefit, however you may find it useful to complete a benefits assessment to ensure you are claiming any benefits you are entitled to.
A useful tool is www.turn2us.org.uk
-
You may apply if you have a pet, but you may not replace a pet that has passed.
-
Lench’s Trust promotes independent living, however our William Lench Court Scheme provides extra care to those that need it via care packages.
